Energy Efficiency in the Building Sector

Together with the BMWi (German Ministry of Economics and Energy) and representatives of MME (Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy), about 50 participants of the first DEU BRA Energy Day had the opportunity to visit BASF's energy efficiency house in São Paulo. The visit was a good start for the following workshop of the Working Group Energy Efficiency with the topic Energy Efficiency in Buildings.

In front of around 100 participants from associations, companies and authorities, both countries presented the efforts that have already been made to increase energy efficiency in buildings and the challenges that lie ahead. At the end of the First German-Brazilian Energy Day, the GK São Paulo hosted a well-attended reception at the venue of the exhibition "Energiewende". The venue - an incubator for start-ups "Impact Hub São Paulo" - enabled a very good connection between the topic global energy system transformation and young, innovative companies with new approaches and solutions also for this topic area.

On the following day, the BMWi invited German companies in Brazil to the first and constituent meeting of the Local Economic Advisory Council as part of the German-Brazilian Energy Partnership. A total of 30 participants accepted the invitation. In addition to large companies such as Bosch and Siemens, small and medium-sized enterprises were also represented. After GIZ, as the secretariat of the Energy Partnership, presented the structure and working methods of the partnership, the company representatives had the opportunity to present their wishes and suggestions for the future work of the Energy Partnership in detail.
